I was stationed at the APC from 1956-1958. I was a Spec5 and attached to what was then the first experimental Combat TV Field Unit--(feasibility).

Was TDY (domestically and overseas) most of time which included stint at Cape Canaveral-Air Force (no NASA then) supporting Range Safety-the group responsible for "command-destruct" of all our launch vehicles at that time.  Using closed-circuit TV and Portable Microwave, it was the first time Central Control could actually visually see the all the launch platforms (and launches) at the Cape. One could also say it was the prercusor of ENG(s) and later SNG(s) vehicles.
