"I arrived at the 497th in the fall of 1952. Was stationed at Signal Photo Headquarters, Kaiserslautern, Germany. Kaiserslautern was a rail head about 50 K from Frankfurt. Close to the French border. Had detachments all over Europe . Had about 350 men in company with about half on DS or TDY all the time. Rotated out December 1953."

 

Denise (Lyden) Hodges of Tsawwassen, BC, Canada, wrote:

"My Dad, Sgt. Joseph O. Lyden, served with the 497th SIG CO PHOTO and learned his craft in Germany 1952 - 1955."

"Sgt. Lyden is still alive and living in an extended care facility in Wayne New Jersey.

"After returning to the states in 1955 he was assigned to New York, and then took a posting to Kagnew Station, Eritrea in 1958; 1963 - Ft.Bragg, North Carolina; 1964 - Okinawa.

"I would very much like to insure he is added to the rosters."
