Richard Koszarski's THE ASTORIA STUDIO AND ITS FABULOUS FILMS presents a picture history of the studio that would be Signal Corps Photographic Center and the Army Pictorial Center from 1942 to 1970.  This picture history includes 227 photographs, with a chapter on Army days.  It's out of print but you can find copies of it at used book sellers online, like Abe's Books.
